Lymington shapes up for 20th anniversary celebration

Get in shape and have some fun when Lymington Health and Leisure Centre celebrates its 20th anniversary on Saturday December 5.

The popular New Forest District Council facility has an activity-packed programme on offer for all the family from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

To mark the opening of the centre, in North Street, Pennington, in 1989, the event will include free exercise classes and swim sessions.

Tiny tumblers will be held for one to six year olds, there is mega mayhem for 8 to 12 year olds, inflatables fun, mixed sports, an Elves Christmas craft workshop and Santa’s cookie decorating.

A fire tender and firefighters from Lymington station will also be attending.

All visitors can enter a fancy dress competition with great prizes to be won. To round off the fun, Father Christmas will be putting in an appearance at 11.30am.

The centre will have great promotional offers, the chance to register for free swimming, first aid demonstrations, free health checks and delicious refreshments.

Free tours will be available, including the newly-refurbished gym, and free taster sessions will include Body Pump and Flexi Bar for adults; badminton and street dance for youngsters.

Swim Academy assessments will also be on offer in the pool and there is the chance to join Val for a fun run.

Advanced booking for exercise sessions is recommended – call 0845 659 0845 – or just turn up to join in, if there’s space.

New Forest District Council portfolio holder for leisure, culture and youth matters, Cllr Di Brooks said: “Lymington Health and Leisure Centre is celebrating 20 successful years– we hope as many people as possible will join staff on December 5 to find out more about what’s on offer, try some of the facilities for themselves and enjoy a fun morning out.”

There will be free parking at the leisure centre and donations from the event will benefit Oakhaven Hospice.
