Operation Firth – woman dies following Lymington collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman died a week after a road traffic collision on the A337 at Lymington.

At around 10.15pm on Tuesday, August 18, a red Citroen ZX Aura collided with a traffic island on the approach to the Ampress Park roundabout.

The vehicle, which was heading towards Lymington, struck a bollard and came to rest against a lamp post.

Both the front-seat passenger, 91-year-old Vera Page, from Worcester Place, Lymington, and the 90-year-old man driving were injured.

They were taken to Southampton General Hospital for precautionary treatment because of their age.

Mrs Page’s condition later deteriorated and she died this morning (Tuesday, August 25). The exact cause of her death is still to be determined.

The driver has also deteriorated but remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Police are continuing their investigation into the collision and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or saw the vehicle driving prior to it.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Phil Lamb at the Totton Roads Policing Unit, quoting Operation Firth, on the non-emergency 101 number or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
